Our goal was to create a webservice that will gather information and materials form all sections functioning inside the Labor Department in Szczecin. Simultaneously we were in charge of implementing CMS system that allows its users to
manage the content of the website. Bind cooperation of these two elements extended our aim - delivering the solution that will help publishing up-to-date information on the webservice in an intuitive and easy way, as much as reliable.
Target groups - Regional autonomy`s entities
- Employers, organisations dealing with labor and unemployment problems
- Unemployed
First two groups often search for information concerning programs lead by Labor Department in Szczecin, analyse unemployment rates, download materials about auctions, projects and events. The third group, consisting of unemployed people will browser the webservice to find materials about job offers and trainings.
Characteristic elements of the webpage:
While creating the layout and the navigation structure we put much concern on two ideas: - exposing numerical and statistical data in form of graphical charts and tables - unemployment rates set in different categories, for example.
- implementing mechanisms enabling interaction with the visitors - discussion forms, newsletter system or "Inform a friend" module
Thinking about people using dial-ups to connect to the Internet we have implemented solutions that allow users to print every page of the webservice - then it`s available to read the materials while staying offline.
To collect the content in a proper hierarchy we have worked out a special structure for sites of a certain type (news, download, FAQ, links). When entering EFS news sections, for example there are only events concerning this topic but while choosing news button from the main menu news&events from the whole webservice are being presented. The system gathers all information in the front so while entering the webpage visitor is being lead to the places that will be interesting for him.
The whole process of webpage and CMS system implementation was preceded by thorough analysis of functioning the Department of Labor in Szczecin and many consultations with its employees.
